Most days, I am an over-planning, often anxious, perfectionist, introverted control freak.   But I’m getting better every day!

Can I just start by telling you I don’t really like that picture of me.  I find all kinds of things wrong with it.  To be honest, I don’t really like any pictures of me.  But I wanted you to have a face to go with the name, so I chose one I don’t hate!

I prefer a good book on my tablet, a cold Dr. Pepper, and a cozy (probably fleece) blanket on my couch over going out with lots of people.   I do not like unfamiliar situations or surprises.  And I am about as far from adventurous as a person can get.

Despite all that I do love to travel, to discover new places and to learn the history of those places.  And sometimes planning the trip is half the fun!

I do love to plan.  Lists are my best friend!  They keep me focused and moving forward.  It’s when my plans go off-course (and let’s face it – the odds of that are pretty good!) that my world falls apart.

I spent most of my adult life working in food service, including 3 years as general manager of a multi-million dollar casual dining restaurant.  Talk about a stressful occupation!  When my position was unexpectedly eliminated in a bankruptcy buy-out, I decided it was time to follow my true passions: writing and reading romance novels and history.  On this blog, I get to share all of those with you!

 

Fun Facts

Just so you know – I really, REALLY want to be that girl (well, lady) who goes hiking and camping and just LOVES the outdoors.  But I dislike bugs and birds and heat.  Soooo……that’s not gonna happen.  But I do love sitting by the water.  The sound of the constant movement of the water hitting the shore is very relaxing.  Just don’t ask me to go IN that water!  You don’t know what’s in there!!

 

I’ve always loved cats, but my husband is allergic so we can’t actually have one of our own. 

And I’m a HUGE fan of penguins!

 

I thought I really loved coffee, but it turns out I just love coffee creamer!  I cook only because I have to eat, but I do enjoy baking.  My favorite cookies are snickerdoodles!
